Globe launched a new program for mobile developers to design innovative applications for the Nokia platform – Codespark.
Codespark was themed “Innovating for the connected Filipino”. The project will let Filipino developers to showcase their invention and distribute it in Globe and Nokia’s Ovi Store.

Basically, it is a contest which is open to all Filipino developers who can design mobile applications that can be implemented on Nokia devices such as Series 40 using Java MIDP 2.0 or S60 using Qt/C++.
It doesn’t have to be a big idea, it can be the simplest thing but one that is relevant to the majority,” said Benoit Nalin, General Manager, Nokia Philippines.

Moreover, the project is under Globe Labs (a department in Globe) partnered with Nokia Philippines and Forum Nokia. Globe Labs primarily aims to bring in the latest Information and Communications Technologies to the customers through applications they developed.

The registration started last June 16, 2010 and will end until August 20, 2010. Three months will be given to build the mobile applications. Deadline for submission of applications is on September 3, 2010.

The awarding of the winners of CodeSpark is on September 24, 2010. The best mobile application for each of the two categories will be distributed through Ovi Store and myGlobe Free Apps. Each of the two winners will receive a new Nokia S60/MAEMO and P25,000 cash prize.
