Coffee Freaks, Hear Ye

Share

Coffee, anyone? Here’s the real deal with the pros and cons of your Starbucks and/or Seattle’s Best indulgence:

Pros

It’s a common notion that coffee stimulates the nervous system, thus is considered an ally for those who burn the midnight oil either studying or working. According to theories, coffee improves the condition of one’s airways, which makes it beneficial for those with asthma. It is also reported to contain antioxidants that can combat free radicals that cause cancers.

So that’s woohoo for the coffee addicts, which includes me by the way.

Cons

As a consequence of its stimulating effect, it can aggravate insomnia. Coffee also stimulates the adrenal glands, which results to increase in stress levels. According to an article from Askmen.com, coffee can also reduce sperm count levels, which can lead to sterility! Uh-oh!

However, those pros and cons of coffee consumption are not yet fully confirmed. Would you like to know what kind of tangible damage can coffee really do to people?

It’s wallet damage.

This is especially true for those who can’t last a day without visiting Starbucks, Seattle’s Best or Coffee Overdose, Coffee Outlet and Northern Brew (for my fellow Angelenos.)

Ever watched that Extra Challenge episode where Nancy Castiliogne got so touched that she cried over the fact that her one hundred pesos that she loosely spends at Starbucks can feed a family with 5-10 members in one day?

For you to re-think about your coffee splurging, here’s a calculator from SoundMoneyTips.com that advocates slowing down on your expensive coffee obsession

Thank you for sharing this. I had such a wonderful time myself traveling and performing in Philippine and this bought back so many memories.
