Getting your Movie Fix
Getting info on the net about the current movie scene is a mixed blessing. On one hand, you get lots of info on what’s currently showing in the various cinemas. On the other, info on future releases are inconsistent which makes inserting that much-awaited premiere into your tight schedule a bit of a challenge.
Here are some of the sites that can be useful in your online movie hunt:
- ClickTheCity: Probably the first gimmick site you should be going to. Also provides guides for TV shows and other events. Features movie reviews, movie news, a top ten list and movie synopses. Really helpful but I can’t seem to get info on the release dates on upcoming attractions.
- Yehey! Movies: It has a movie guide, movie reviews and news. What I’m missing are the movie synopses.
- Ayala Cinemas: Shows what’s showing in Ayala Cinemas (ATC, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Center Makati). Not much info here, though.
- IMDb: A quick schedule on when movies will be shown locally. Unfortunately, I won’t be betting on the local cinemas following this schedule, basing on past showings. Clicking the movie titles shows you some info on the movie.
From what’s available, I would say ClickTheCity is still the place to start when on the prowl for fresh flicks. None of the above satisfied me as to letting me in on when new movies were expected to be shown, though. Also, they left out ticket prices and until when I could catch the movie in theatres.
Initially, I was looking for a service that would let me know (for free or a very small fee) as soon as a movie was shown in theatres. Asa pa ako. I think the internet has spoiled me a bit too much.
For now, the first two sites are pretty good in telling you showtimes, where movies are showing and movie descriptions. So grab some cornik, a date and see you at the show!

I use ClickTheCity more often for checking out screening time in theaters I prefer. It gives very accurate data and its wap site is very very convenient.

I find clickthecity’s premium SMS movie skeds useful. It always works for me especially when i’m not online. Just key in “ctcm” (without quotation makrs), send it to 2333 to download the list of moviehouse keywords. or if you already know your cinema’s keyword, then text CTCM+[SPACE]+[moviehouse keyword] and send it to 2333 for Globe. Not sure, though, about the Smart number.
